Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
As most of you know the end of April and the beginning of May proved to be an extraordinary time for the residents of Millington, TN, a small hamlet in the northern reaches of Shelby County, the home of Memphis. There has been flooding all over the South and much of it could be described as catastrophic. Millington was especially hard hit where close to a foot of rain fell and the levees in the area were just not designed to handle that much water. The result was that a number of our member’s suffered severe property damage.
This is not a letter we feel particularly comfortable writing, but the needs of our members, as well as the community at large, is just beyond our ability to fully address. Over the fifty plus year history of the Millington congregation we have always tried to be generous to others whether that meant a check for a student to go on a mission trip, helping a church to be rebuilt after a fire, or the many times we have sent money to help the victims of natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and the recent earthquake in Haiti.
At this point, our needs are simple. By far the best way to help would be for you as an individual or congregation to make a donation to assist in the rebuilding of these people’s lives. We have already set up a separate account in order not to comingle any funds being sent to help in this effort.
You can donate by simply clicking the donate button on this website and follow the directions.
You can also send a check to:
Millington Church of Christ
P.O. Box 26
Millington,

Please make the check payable to the Millington Church of Christ Disaster Relief Fund. This fund will be under the oversight of the Millington elders, and we assure you that every penny donated will be used directly to help those in need.
Yesterday, we were visiting with one of our members whose house was ruined by the floodwaters. With tears in her eyes in the midst of an overwhelming mess she simply said, “What are we going to do?” We know exactly what we are going to do. The Millington congregation will do all that it can do and with the help of other individuals and churches we will help people like this fine Christian woman and her family to get back on their feet.
The bottom line is that we need your help and we believe that help will come and people will be helped and God will be glorified.
We want to thank you in advance for your support.
In Christ:
The Elders of the Millington Church of Christ
